Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona

The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) is one of the major public universities of Spain. It is located in Bellaterra, close to Barcelona. Currently, the University offers 87 bachelor’s degrees, 133 Master’s degrees, 8 Erasmus Mundus Master’s degrees; and 68 doctorate programmes on fields such as humanities and arts, social sciences, health sciences, technology and physical sciences. UAB was awarded in 2009 with the label of Campus of International Excellence, and in 2014 with the EC logo of “HR Excellence in Research”. UAB is the second-ranked Spanish university according to THE WUR 2018 and it is the second university in Spain in volume and third on impact of scientific activity according to Scimago Institution Rankings World Report (SIR WR-2017). Two UAB centers are involved in INSPiRE- MED: the NMR Biomedical Applications research group (GABRMN, 1 full professor, 2 senior researchers, 4 PhD students) at the Dept. of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Biosciences; and the NMR Facility (SeRMN, 6 senior spectroscopists, 3 PhD students), Faculty of Sciences.

UAB has participated in a total of 45 Marie Curie Actions projects within the framework of FP7 and hosted 51 fellows. GABRMN and SeRMN have participated in six European projects: 1. TRANSACT (FP7-PITN- GA-2012-316679, 03/2013-02/2017, GABRMN and SeRMN as full partners) 2. FAST (FP6-MC-RTN- 035801, 12/2006-11/2010, SeRMN, as full partner). 3. eTUMOUR (FP6-2002-LIFESCIHEALTH 503094, 02/2004-07/2009, GABRMN, as full partner). 4. Healthagents (IST-2004-27214, 1/2006-12/2008, GABRMN, as full partner). 5. INTERPRET (IST-1999-10310, 01/2000-12/2002, GABRMN, as coordinator). 5. EU Programme TMR/Networks ERB-FMRX-CT97-0160 (01/1998-01/2002, SeRMN, as sub-contractor).

Since the beginning of EC Horizon 2020 programme (1/1/2014) the UAB has been funded with +38M€ for more than 80 Projects. Of those 27 are Marie S. Curie projects, 5 are ITN and one of them is coordinated by the UAB partner. Currently UAB hosted 2016/2017 more than 4800 PhD applicants.
